It is our pleasure to present to you the Sustainable Narxoz-2030 Strategy. It was developed through a coordinated effort with the Sustainable Development Committee and the Sustainable Kazakhstan Research Institute (SKRI).
This Strategy sets forth a comprehensive vision of our local contribution to the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, University wide. It also makes us one of the first universities in Central Asia to develop such a Strategy placing us as a leader in this field.
As we all know the University will be undergoing an extensive campus redevelopment project. What you might not know is that sustainability is an important aspect of its design. The Strategy will provide a basis for faculty and student activities in the context of the campus renovations.
The Strategy sets forth a vision of what we would envision for our community concentrated into four core areas:
1) Campus culture (core values, student engagement, employee engagement, community engagement, regional and global outreach/partnerships)
2) Education/research/curricula/transdisciplinary work on sustainability
3) Campus operations (climate change, accessibility, waste, water, transport, green
4) Sustainable office
In order to implement this Strategy, it will take a concerted effort by faculty, staff, and students to help create the sustainable community we all hope for and want. The Sustainable Development Committee and the Sustainable Kazakhstan Research Institute are looking forward to collaborating with all our University stakeholders to make this vision turns into a reality.
