International Employee Opportunities

International employees can serve in a variety of capacities in their areas of expertise, from short term visiting or long term permanent capacities. All positions include a competitive benefits package, and vary by position and level of experience of the professional. Most positions are not posted on our website, so interested professionals are encouraged to contact our department or the department at Narxoz that you are interested in working with to discuss opportunities.

Faculty teaching and research capacities
International faculty and scholars come to Narxoz University to serve in both short and long term capacities in their areas of expertise in academia. All faculty and researchers staying for at least a semester are required to carry a teaching load, per Kazakhstan visa laws. In addition to teaching, international professionals can also conduct research, contribute to grant funding initiatives, develop curriculum, and contribute to other academic initiatives. In addition, Narxoz also welcomes visiting professionals, both paid or volunteer (usually includes a stipend), to contribute to any of these capacities from one week to a few months.

Erasmus+ Faculty and Staff Exchange Programme
(limited to professionals from participating European universities)
Erasmus+ is the European Union's (EU) programme to support education, training, youth and sport opportunities for cooperation between EU and Central Asian countries. Every semester Narxoz University's Erasmus+ partners receive grants to offer, on a competitive basis, an opportunity for its faculty and administrative staff to go to Narxoz for teaching or training mobility. Learn more about Erasmus+ opportunities at Narxoz.

Development volunteer officers
International professionals - from recent college graduates to experienced professionals and retirees - help build Narxoz University and Central Asia in volunteer capacities every year. From online collaborations to week-long visiting teaching to summer or semester-long internships and professional development, we welcome volunteers as a part of our employee core. We welcome volunteers of all backgrounds, so if you believe you have something to offer in curriculum, research, student life, international development, or any of our specific initiatives or departments, contact us with your ideas

Go Nomads Teaching Program
Go Nomads is a professional experience program of Kazakhstan's Ministry of Education and Science - Bolashaq Fund. Participants serve as teaching assistants in which they teach English or another area of expertise at Narxoz University for one to six months. They also organize speaking clubs, discussion sessions and other extracurricular activities with local students. In addition to experiencing Kazakhstan's society and culture, participants make a difference in young people's future prospects and knowledge. Participants receive accommodation, three meals per day, medical insurance, and roundtrip airfare. Learn more about Go Nomads opportunities.

Administrator and staff capacities
While opportunities for international professionals to serve in administrator and staff capacities are available, they are rare due to strict laws that mandate most foreign employees take a teaching load. Some international administrators and staff have served as both faculty and administrators or staff. Contact us to discuss options.

  • Aditee Prabhakar
    Architect and Urban Planner.
Ph.D. Candidate, Department of Architecture, Town and Regional Planning, IIEST Shibpur.
I joined Narxoz University as a visiting research fellow. When I was looking for universities in Almaty with matching my interest, Narxoz was the place that I found with multiple research centers and two out of them complimented my research idea - Qazaq Research Institute for Future Studies and Silk Road Case. Both the research centers helped me to grow with my research. The university hosted me with a lot of love and supported me in all possible ways though out my stay in Almaty. It was a pleasure working with Narxoz folks.
