Narxoz University announces multiple positions at the Assistant professor level in social sciences

The successful candidate(s) will hold a PhD in

  •  Anthropology
  •  Communications
  •  Gender Studies
  •  Psychology
  •  Sociology or a related discipline.

He/she will have experience with US/European university systems and an active, and imaginative research profile. At Narxoz University he/she will teach a half time load in Russian and/or English to students in our General Education program. The other half of his/her time will be devoted to advancing the university’s social science research agendas.

We are particularly interested in scholars with proven qualitative research skills.

Project Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and monitors the scientific activities of the Researchers at the Institute of Applied Research;
  • Takes part in the organization and organizes scientific events (seminars, conferences, meetings, round tables, etc.);
  • Provides administrative support to the Gender Economics Research Center and the HR Research Center;
  • Identifies potential financial resources and builds networks with other researchers for research;
  • Forms and publishes a scientific journal of the University (Central Asian Economic Review), including the formation of issues, work with reviewers, maintaining the functioning of the website of the journal; works to promote and improve the quality of the scientific journal of the University;
  • Manage multiple projects using Bitrix24 or other PMO tools;
  • Launches, manages and closes out international projects;
  • Leads2-3 projects a year (it might be more following the strategy of the university);
  • Develops international project initiatives at Narxoz through constant collaboration and interaction with partners and the Development and Alumni relations office;
  • Provides support for faculty and staff as they construct various capacity building and professional projects;
  • Supports policy development aimed at increasing international collaborations, and monitors individual and program level progress towards desired outcomes;

Additionally, this position will be responsible for developing and supporting faculty and institutional partnership between members of the Office at Narxoz and partner institutions in Kazakhstan and abroad.

Qualifications

Education:

A Master’s / PhD degree in Project Management.

Experience:

  • Minimum 1-2 years in implementing projects with international organizations
  • At least 3 years of work experience in educational and research areas
  • Related Skills and Knowledge:
  • Fluent written and spoken English;
  • Good computer skills (Bitrix24 or other PMO tools);
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Chief of Staff: Office of the President

Responsibilities:

Works with rector to ensure that tasks agreed upon during various meetings are actually carried out

  • Participates in program management, which involves duties on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis;
  • Within program management, organizes and gathers information from various departments and meetings and reports that information, along with recommendations, to rector;
  • At the request of the rector leads strategic initiatives and reports results back to the rector;
  • Helps rector to support staff of the University to perform their duties to the best of their ability;
  • Provides training and coaching for other staff members;
  • Carries out other duties as necessary, which may include simple tasks such as filing and making phone calls;
  • Organizes a calendar and keeps track of multiple projects at the same time;
  • Keeps up with industry trends by reading literature and communicating with peers;
  • Acts as a representative of the Rectorate.

Qualifications

Education:

A Master’s / PhD degree in Project Management.

Experience:

  • Minimum 1-2 years in implementing projects with international organizations;
  • At least 5 years of work experience in educational and research areas.
  • Related Skills and Knowledge:
  • Fluent written and spoken English, Kazakh and Russian;
  • Good computer skills (Bitrix24 or other PMO tools);

Narxoz University School of Law and Social Sciences announces positions for faculty in law and the social sciences

The ideal applicant should have:

  • a candidate of science (associate professor) or PhD degree in any field of the humanities and social sciences;
  • good knowledge of information and communication technology (ICT) in education;
  • higher education teaching experience and an active research profile.

Candidates should be:

  • proficient in at least two languages: Kazak/Russian and English,
  • be a team worker, creative, and responsible.

In addition to teaching and research, responsibilities also include student mentorship and guidance.
